A Testimony of God's Faithfulness
Let me tell you a story of God's faithfulness.
In 2022, I felt the Lord leading me to write books of declarations on the topics of identity and authority. He showed me the formatting for the interior pages in a dream but I couldn't figure out how to get it done.
Last year, God opened a door for me to work with a college intern on a couple of projects. This person had no background in publishing but she had FABULOUS editing skills and she was more than willing to learn. Her enthusiasm encouraged me to pull those books of declarations off the shelf to try a different program for formatting.
Every author, speaker, teacher, and leader desires to connect with their audience. Well, my intern represented my target audience of new Christians, so when she said she had no idea what declarations were, but she was familiar with affirmations, I ended up re-writing the entire manuscript. The end product didn't thrill me, but I was certain I had fulfilled the Lord's challenge to create books on identity and authority.
Then there was a huge detour as God led me into His rest. I've sat on the sidelines for a full year recovering health. But, not God. He never sleeps nor slumbers. He never tires or grows weary. Still, who would expect their business to continue to grow during a lengthy absence except someone who was in business WITH God? Today when I logged into my Amazon KDP account, what I discovered shocked me (in a good way).
"Identity in Christ: 100 Scriptures and Affirmations to Build Confidence" has sold a total of 333 copies this year. That's far more than any of my other titles.
And you know what else? Copies of my books have sold in the United States, but also UK, Germany, France, Australia, Canada, Italy, and India. Royalties earned this year cover my editing expenses from last year. And that's FAR MORE than I ever asked for or imagined, but isn't that just like God?
I'm not sharing this to brag. I'm sharing this to encourage you. Whatever God has called you to, it WILL COST you something in terms of time, energy, or resources. You may grow discouraged as you inevitably make mistakes along the way. Yet, He's not asking for perfection. He only asks for obedience.
I've done no conferences, podcasts, or special marketing this year--only made a few posts on this FB page. I've not traveled outside of the US in a long while yet people in eight nations have purchased my books this year.
Books are a legacy project that continue to speak long after the author has passed away. Friends, if God has called you to share your story, just do it. People all over the world can learn from your testimony. Show people what a mighty God we serve. Give Him something to work with, and watch as He does what only He can do.
