Ode to a Veteran
Nov 09, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Every veteran has a story. I recently compiled a list of common concerns, struggles, and emotions experienced by service members. I added my reason for hope and healing to that list, which is my faith in God. The poem below was co-created with AI which took all that precious data and wove it into something special to share with my fellow veterans to honor them on Veterans Day.
The Refiner's Fire
Oct 07, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
With God, everything in life happens for a reason. It all serves to draw us nearer to Him. The Refiner’s Fire is His all-consuming Love. It’s not a punishment; it’s an invitation to come into Holiness. It doesn't feel good in the moment, but it’s an opportunity to take inventory and release all that holds us back from encountering our Creator.

Resting Assured of God's Infinite Love
Aug 19, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Testimonies of grace and mercy should encourage us regarding God’s goodness and faithfulness. If our first response is rejection, offense, disappointment, indifference, or jealousy instead of praise and worship, our hearts likely have grown cold toward the Burning One. But, what does God's Word say on this subject?
Worshipping God with Flags
Jul 21, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Is the concept of worship flags new to you? Up until a few years ago, I had never been in a church where dance or worship flags were present. Still, I was fascinated from the very beginning. The Lord Himself taught me. But is this scriptural? Let's find out!
Listening Prayer Sets the Captives Free
Jul 17, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
I encourage you to listen carefully to God's words and then steward those words well. Document them in your journal. Consider it an invitation to a special time of Bible study. Allow God to work in your heart, and use that time to partner with Him in prayer. It’s not complicated or burdensome. Here's an example of how this works.
Grateful for Praying Friends
Jul 16, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
In Matthew 9:1-8, four friends help a lame man get to Jesus by lowering him through a hole in the roof. Do you surround yourself with friends who love you so much they’ll carry you to the feet of Jesus when you’re too afflicted to make it there on your own? In this blog post, I challenge you to pray for the people God has put in your life.
Memorial Day Remembrances and Prayer
May 26, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Memorial Day is a day to honor U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Yet, this morning, I believe it’s also on God’s heart to acknowledge and honor the mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, who have gone before us in service to God’s army. Here's my prayer for them.
Standing Strong When Circumstances Wear Us Down
May 17, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
God is not the author of sickness or disease, so the devil gets blamed for many things. Still, we need to wake up to the many ways we may be inadvertently causing harm to ourselves. Learn more in this new post from author Sallie Dawkins.
Passover is for Christians Too
Apr 21, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
The ordinance of the Passover is not just an observance for people of Jewish faith. In Exodus 12:42 (NASB) God tells us that Passover "... is a night to be observed for the Lord, for having brought them out of the land of Egypt; this night is for the Lord, to be observed by all the sons of Israel throughout their generations." This means that believers in Christ Jesus (Gentiles) have been established in faith and grafted into the True Vine with the children of Israel (Romans 11:11-24). All the blessings of God belong to us, too. Even if we don't participate in a traditional Jewish Seder, we can read Exodus 12 to remind ourselves of the goodness of the Lord and be blessed.
Heart-check and Communion
Mar 28, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
God corrects those He loves, though He is not dwelling on our faults. Thanks to the blood of Christ, He already sees us as flawless. Yet, we’re walking out the revelation of our salvation and growing in holiness. It’s part of being prepared for the return of Christ. The time of inner reflection that accompanies communion helps us to keep our hearts clean.
Prosper and Be in Health
Mar 18, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Can a person lose their healing? Recent health concerns left me wondering this very thing. The Lord gently reminded me that in the midst of our trials, He is steadfast. If we turn to Him and listen for His directions, we will have the victory and prosper.
Shake it off!
Mar 18, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Sometimes, in the process of doing what God has called us to do, bad stuff happens. In the apostle Paul's case, he was a prisoner being transported on a ship. That ship crashed, and when he made it to dry land to build a fire, a snake bit him. It would have been easy to think maybe Paul had done something to upset God. This doesn’t sound like favor, does it? Still, Romans 8:28 says all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to HIS purpose. So what can we learn from Paul's example?
We're All in the Same Boat
Mar 09, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Maybe you’ve never gotten yourself into a cycle of dead works, but I have. Have you never felt like you lacked direction for your life, or woke up to your situation and felt alone? A recent vision of God while ministering to a friend flooding my mind with Scriptures. The Lord was ministering to me while I was ministering to my friend! What a beautiful reminder that we're not living isolated lives. We’re all in the same boat. When one side sinks, it impacts all of us.
Healing is the Children's Bread
Mar 04, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Pain isn’t from God, but He’ll use it for our good and His glory. When I recently asked the Lord how many times He would heal me, He replied that it was once and done for Him. Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Still, He said, He’d remind me of His Word on the matter as many times as it takes for me to believe and receive the fullness of His healing. Acccording to Matthew 15:25-27, healing is the children's bread. We receive it as we sit at the Master's table. Here's what I learned after a dozen weeks of relenting pain in my muscles, bones, and joints.
God is Always Speaking

I believe every Word from God is a gift to be treasured and opened. That’s why I love journaling. Journaling helps me steward and remember the details of conversations with God, and allows me to go back to those conversation to learn even more.
A Sign of the Times
Feb 11, 2024 by Sallie Dawkins
Marveling and feeling full after an all-night prayer meeting. Traveling along the Lord’s Highway of Holiness is like a narrow path or shortcut to get us where we need to go, but we can’t get there apart from Him, so let’s strive to keep God first in all areas of life.
