Heart-check and Communion

My YouVersion bible app shows the verse of the day as Matthew 26:24: … how terrible it will be for the one who betrays the Son of Man. It will be far better for him if he had never been born.” (TPT) It would be easy to dismiss that verse as only applying to Judas. I read that verse early this morning, and it has percolated in my spirit for several hours. Does that ever happen to you?

About an hour ago, I felt the Lord leading me to take communion with Him. It’s okay to observe communion as often as the Lord leads. In some seasons, that may be weekly, daily, or hourly, and that’s quite alright. Be careful to check your heart, and don’t take it amiss.

In this case, the Lord led me to repent for myself and on behalf of my bloodline for holding onto debts or illegally attempting to collect debts that Christ has already paid for. All sin debts belong to Jesus, and we have no right to withhold them from Him.

In the spirit, I could see a wooden table or desk like that of a tax collector, bookkeeper, or accountant. It appeared that some people owed a lot. The books were past due for being reconciled. In Truth, the debts have already been wiped clean.

After I prayed this, Jesus invited me to overturn that table (in the spirit) as a prophetic act. Proverbs 20:23 says, “The LORD detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights.” My friends, we can’t live life thinking God should judge us one way and everyone else should be judged more harshly. That goes against His word. The measure of mercy we would want is the same measure we’re to pray to be poured out to others.

Jesus came to overturn the tables of the money changers (Matthew 21:12-16), even in the temples of our hearts. Perhaps even more so, in the temples of the hearts of all the children of God.

And He said to them, “It is written: My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.” (Matthew 21:13)

My friends, God corrects those He loves. The Lord is not dwelling on our faults. Thanks to the blood of Christ, He already sees us as flawless. Yet, we’re walking out the revelation of our salvation and growing in holiness. It’s part of being prepared for the return of Christ.

When the Most High God is Lord over every area of life, and we invest time fostering that relationship, then no conversation is off limits. We can freely approach His throne of grace. He’s always speaking and always present. There is nothing that compares to the Christian adventure!

Let’s pray.

Yours, Lord, is the Name above every other name, worthy of all our praise. Thank You, Lord, for Your sacrifice and Your corrections. We love You and adore You. Empower us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
